LaunchVote Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 24, 2026
Introduction
LaunchVote helps groups create sessions, suggest places, vote, and decide where to go together. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
- User ID — a unique identifier assigned when you create an account or sign in.
- Email address — if you sign up with email/password or sign in with Google.
- Username — a public display name you choose so friends can find you on LaunchVote.
- Guest identifier — if you use “Continue as Guest,” a temporary anonymous identifier is created. Guest accounts do not have usernames or access to social features.
- Session details — title, scheduled date and time, voting deadline, join code, and expiration.
- Creator and participant IDs — which users created or joined a session.
- Place suggestions — names, addresses, and coordinates of suggested places (venue coordinates, not your personal location).
- Votes — which suggestion each participant voted for.
- Invitations — pending, accepted, or declined invitations to join sessions.
- Friend requests — sent and received friend requests between users.
- Friends list — accepted friendships between users.
- Friend groups — private groups of friends you create for easier session invites. Groups are visible only to you.
Location
- Current location — collected only when you choose to search for nearby places. Your location is used to find nearby results and is not stored on our servers. Restaurant coordinates may be stored as part of place suggestions, but those are venue coordinates, not your personal location.
Crash Diagnostics
- Crash reports — if the app crashes, diagnostic information (such as device type, OS version, and crash details) may be collected automatically to help us identify and fix issues. Crash data is processed by Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service. Crash reports are used only for app stability and are not used for advertising or tracking.
Push Notifications
- Device token — if you enable notifications, a push notification token is stored to deliver notifications about friend requests and session invites. This token is a per-device identifier used only for notification delivery. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- No payment or financial data.
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA) or ad tracking.
- No App Tracking Transparency prompt — we do not track you across other apps or websites.
- No advertising analytics or Firebase Analytics.
- No sale, sharing, or brokering of personal data for advertising.
- No contacts or address book access.
- No health, fitness, or sensitive personal data.
- No photo or camera access (photo features are not currently active).
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate your account and keep you signed in.
- Show sessions to the users who created or joined them.
- Allow participants to suggest places and vote.
- Enable session invitations and join codes.
- Enable friend discovery by exact username search.
- Enable friend requests, friend lists, and friend groups.
- Monitor app stability and fix crashes (via crash diagnostics).
- Process account deletion requests.
Location Use
- Location is used only to help you search for nearby places when you choose to use that feature.
- Your location is not stored on our servers.
- Restaurant coordinates are stored as part of place suggestions, but those are venue locations, not your personal location.
- You can deny or disable location access at any time in your device’s Settings. The app will still work, but place search will not be available without location access.
Third-Party Services
LaunchVote uses the following services to operate:
- Firebase Authentication — for account creation and sign-in (email, Google, Apple, and anonymous/guest).
- Cloud Firestore — for storing session, suggestion, vote, invitation, username, friend, and group data.
- Firebase Crashlytics — for collecting crash reports to improve app stability.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — for delivering push notifications about friend requests and session invites.
- Google Sign-In — for signing in with a Google account.
- Sign in with Apple — for signing in with an Apple ID.
- Apple MapKit — for searching nearby places using your location.
These services are used as backend and service providers. They process data as needed to provide app functionality and diagnostics. They are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
These services have their own privacy policies:
Data Sharing
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not share your data with third parties for advertising or tracking.
- Session and invitation data is visible to other users participating in the same session.
- Your username is visible to other LaunchVote users who search for it exactly.
- Friend relationships are visible to the two users involved.
- Friend groups are private and visible only to the group creator.
- Your data may be processed by the service providers listed above as needed to run the app.
Data Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including server-side security rules that restrict access to your data. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from within the app:
- Go to Account (bottom of the home screen).
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm deletion.
When you delete your account:
- Your authentication account is permanently deleted.
- Pending invitations you sent or received are deleted.
- You are removed from sessions you joined.
- Sessions you created where you are the only participant may be deleted.
- Some shared session content may remain when other participants are involved, as that data is part of a shared group experience.
If account deletion fails, try signing out, signing back in, and trying again. If you still have trouble, contact support.
Data Retention
- Your data is retained while your account and sessions exist.
- Deleting your account removes your authentication and some associated data as described above.
- Shared group content may remain if needed for other participants in the same session.
- Expired sessions remain accessible until deleted by the session creator.
Children
LaunchVote is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
